Lennox International Inc. First OEM to Adopt Notifact Technology

September 6, 2000

DALLAS, Sept. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Lennox International Inc. (NYSE: LII) has chosen the Notifact Corporation as a wireless technology partner to provide a unique Wireless Monitoring System (WMS) transceiver, designed specifically for the Lennox L Series(R) rooftop packaged units. Lennox is a leader in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) industry and the first HVAC manufacturer to provide Notifact "plug-and-play" communication capabilities to their HVAC products.

The Lennox L Series is a popular rooftop commercial HVAC line that offers 14 different cooling capacities ranging from 3 to 30 tons. The units feature a variety of factory-installed options and claim the lowest lifecycle cost of any rooftop HVAC equipment on the market.

The Notifact WMS transceiver, named LN-1, provides direct "plug-and-play" communication capabilities with the L Series Integrated Modular Control (IMC) board. The IMC, which is standard on every L Series unit, has over 80 diagnostic codes that quickly diagnose and identify problems for service contractors.

Combining Notifact's wireless technology with the existing Integrated Modular Control capabilities permits sending instantaneous diagnostic messages from L Series rooftop units through the LN-1 transceiver to service contractors and facility managers when service is required. These alarm messages can be sent via pagers, cellular phones, faxes, or e-mail so a qualified technician can be sent to the site immediately, reducing equipment downtime.

"The Lennox/Notifact partnership is a perfect fit as we are always looking to add value to our products and services," Theresa Dawson, Product Marketing Manager for Lennox' Commercial Platform, said. "By using this technology, we can now provide detailed, diagnostic information to any number of people virtually anywhere in the U.S. -- in minutes."

Notifact's direct LN-1 plug-in allows real-time notification from the rooftop units without costly building automation, dedicated phone lines, and central monitoring systems. The instant alert notification will allow the contractors to target service calls, increase customer service and retention, and improve management of day-to-day business operations.

"The LN-1 transceiver can be linked to ten Lennox L Series rooftop units," Dawson said. "This provides our customers with more application flexibility than other systems on the market today."

The Notifact WMS plug-in will allow every alarm point configured on the Lennox L Series unit to be connected directly and wirelessly to service contractors and facility managers. Messages delivered from the LN-1 transceiver will provide the service contractors or facility managers with location, equipment identification, and specific equipment alarm code causing the disruption.

Lennox dealers and any servicing contractor will be able to further differentiate their services by providing this latest technology in digital and Internet equipment monitoring.

The Notifact Wireless Monitoring system applies Internet server and wireless technologies to provide real-time monitoring of HVAC/R equipment. Notifact transmits regular diagnostic information, as well as providing early warning for potential system failures. Wireless technology utilizing pagers, cellular phones, and the Internet allows for instant notification of any irregularities, which results in more cost-effective and timely system repairs and fewer business disruptions.
