"We're happy Ed has decided to take the time to pursue his other interests, but we will miss his many valuable contributions over the past 12 years," said Bob Schjerven, chief executive officer. Schjerven said Lennox has initiated a search for a successor.
Joining Lennox in 1989 as vice president and general manager of Heatcraft's Refrigeration Products division, French successfully led one of the most complex integrations of sales force, product rationalization, and system development ever undertaken in Lennox International. He was named president and chief operating officer of Armstrong Air Conditioning, another Lennox subsidiary, in 1995. During his tenure at Armstrong, French helped shape and build an organization to better support the needs and growth of Armstrong's customers -- its distributors.
In 1997 French was named interim president and COO of Heatcraft, while continuing his responsibilities as president and COO of Armstrong. When Mike Schwartz was named president and COO of Armstrong later that year, French relinquished his Armstrong responsibilities and shifted his full attention to Heatcraft until July 2000, when he was named chief technology officer for Lennox International.
"Ed's deep industry experience was an important asset to us as we grew over the past decade into a worldwide leader in climate control technology," Schjerven said.
A Fortune 500 company selling heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) equipment in over 70 countries worldwide, Lennox International Inc. is a leader in climate control solutions. Lennox International stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "LII".
